The dragon boat race allows colleagues from different departments to work together as a team. There is space for up to twenty people in each boat, and the task is to align all the different personalities and characters in pursuit of a common goal. Harmony and communication are vital.
Anyone who is involved in team sports knows what teamwork means: it is not the individuals, but their perfect interplay that leads to success. Dragon boat racing allows this awareness to be experienced first hand.
The "we feeling"
A sense of togetherness is fostered by the motto "We're all in the same boat!" Nothing can happen without team spirit: the wooden paddles rattle if the crew isn't rowing together, and the boat loses speed if the team is not synchronised. Only exact symmetry gets a boat moving. An important role is played by the drum, which sets the pace.
