Experiences in Val-de-Travers
Welcome to the heart of the Val-de-Travers. Môtiers is home to the monastery of St-Pierre, founded in the 6th century by monks who immigrated from Burgundy. For almost a millennium it was one of the most important religious centres in the region, but it also became known as a place of wine production. It is here that the Mauler family's "Grands Vins Mousseux" (sparkling wines) have now been produced since 1829. Let us guide you through the monastery and the wine cellars, taste delicious sparkling wines and then visit the asphalt mines where miners worked during the day for centuries.
The program in two variants
- Variant 1: Guided tour of the monastery and wine cellars including film and tasting, followed by a guided tour of the asphalt mines.
- Variant 2: Showing of a film about the history of the monastery and the Mauler tradition, tasting and guided tour of the asphalt mines.
Supporting programme and larger groups
Let us put together a varied daily programme for you. For larger groups, it is advisable to plan additional activities and divide the group up. Take a bike tour, a puzzle trip, a visit to the Maison de l'Absinthe or a hike to the Creux du Van. If you wish, you can stay overnight in the beautiful Val-de-Travers.
