The initial situation
Around a third of all food produced in Switzerland is thrown away and is therefore wasted. This is not only bad from an economic point of view, but also a major problem from an ecological perspective. Switzerland has set itself the goal of halving per capita food losses by 2030 and reducing the environmental impact of food waste caused by Swiss consumption by around 40 to 60 percent.
With this cooking workshop, which deals with the topic of food waste, you can help us get a little closer to this goal.
The workshop
Food waste is something we deal with every day, be it in the fridge at home or when shopping in the store. The market stall that we prepare for the course contains food that is past its best-before date or no longer looks so good. However, as we all know, these are not spoiled, but still fit for consumption. The challenge of the "Taste the Waste" cooking event is clear: you never know which products you will get to cook and you cook without a recipe.
After the welcome, the event starts with a small aperitif. This is followed by an input on the topic of food waste. Then it's time to get cooking - with the help of a professional. At the end, the delicious creations are tasted together at a tavolata.
This cooking event is always vegetarian. A meat option can be included on request at an additional cost per person.
The location
The "Taste the Waste" cooking event takes place in a very special location in Kilchberg, which allows you and your group to immerse yourself in a different world in an unusual place. The cool ambience and the special atmosphere of the well-equipped kitchen make this workshop a unique experience.
