"Löffele", also a Swiss tradition

In numerous cultures around the world, from Ireland to Russia to Polynesia, music is played with spoons made of metal or wood. Also in the folk music of the Alpine region the "Löffele" has a long tradition. In this workshop you will use hand-carved wooden spoons as percussion instruments. You will be amazed at how many different timbres you can create without any prior knowledge. The workshop leader is a guitarist and singer and has been making music with wooden spoons for thirty years.

Play, fun and improvisation

To ensure that playing together works from the start, the workshop begins with an entertaining animation. The workshop leader does not use any words. He lets only the wood speak and thus awakens the desire to play, which you can now live out with your team as a big band. All participants can be themselves in an informal, cheerful and carefree way. Let yourself be surprised by the groovy togetherness that results from the "Löffele".

The spoons from cherry wood

The spoons you use with your team in this workshop were carved from cherry wood by Hans Flühmann from Hofstetten near Brienz, the carving and violin making village on Lake Brienz. The spoons are available in two sizes so that even children's hands can find the right grip. The wonderful hand caressers awaken the innate play instinct and replace an entire drum set in an extremely space-saving way.
