About petanque

Pétanque is a ball sport, also known as "boule", but not to be confused with boccia. The word "pétanque" originally comes from Provençal and is derived from "péd tanco" (French: "pieds tanqués") for "feet together". Like the word, the game comes from the south of France. Today, pétanque is played all over the world, both as a recreational pastime and as a professional sport.
