From hot iron to utensil
The smith demonstrates how the iron is heated in the forge until it becomes red-hot and thus malleable. Then the hammer is used: the glowing iron is shaped on the anvil by targeted hammer blows.
Become the smith of your own fortune and make your personal fondue or barbecue skewer. Also possible are a letter or bottle opener or a lucky nail.
Barbecue fun with fine barbecue specialities
After forging, inaugurate the barbecue skewer right on the spot. Our historic grounds with almost 300 trees, 140 horses and the historic jumping garden - the green oasis of the city of Bern - are wonderfully suited for uncomplicated guests who are open for an event of a different kind. The smell of horses, straw and hay quickly makes you forget the noisy city all around. Spend cosy hours together with your team and enjoy the unique atmosphere in the Schmitte.
Possible additional activities
We would be happy to put together an attractive, varied programme according to your wishes. For groups of more than 30 people, we recommend splitting up the group so that the waiting time of the individual participants is not too long.
The following options are available:
- carriage ride
- stories around the horse
- guided tour through the historical harness and carriage collection of the former EMPFA
- Vaulting demonstration
- horseshoe throwing
- approaching the horse
