Experience a fantastic high alpine snowshoe tour on the glacier surrounded by the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Saas Valley.

Encounter with the eternal ice

Hohsaas (3200 m.a.s.l.) is one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Valais Alps with a breathtaking view of 18 four-thousand-metre peaks and the nearby glaciers. Your tour begins not far from the mountain station. Away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes, you move safely over the magnificent Trift glacier on the mountain guide's rope. Gently ascending you will encounter the deep blue eternal ice at the edge of the crevasses. After about 1½ hours you reach the highest point (approx. 3350 m.a.s.l.). The descent to Hohsaas offers a wonderful powder snow pleasure.

Prerequisites and equipment

You don't need any special knowledge for the tour, but some fitness and sportsmanship are required. You will also need equipment that is suitable for the high mountains: sturdy, high hiking or mountain boots or winter hiking boots, hat, gloves and sunglasses as well as warm clothing.

Your journey to Valais

Thanks to the Lötschberg-NEAT, you can reach the Valais quickly: from Berne in one hour, from Basel or Zurich in two hours. The Saas Valley is easily accessible by Postbus from Visp or Brig every half hour. From Visp you can reach Saas-Grund in about 35 minutes.
