As the saying goes, "strike while the iron is hot". With this in mind, each participant sets to work on a square steel section with they can then round, sharpen, and spiral under the expert guidance of a smith. Everyone takes the same steps and makes the same progress - but the smith is always the boss.
Analogies with everyday life
Parallels can also be drawn between the teamwork and everyday life. The smith doubles as a communications trainer who can put team development at the centre of the event. This is only an option, however: the experience is valuable in itself. Once the skewers - and tongs as well, if desired - have been made, they are presented and evaluated by the whole group. Each participant then has a beautiful handmade souvenir to take home.
You can decide when you'd like to make a break. While the iron is in the furnace for example, you can take the chance to have a drink, and at the end it is also possible to put the skewers that have been produced to good use with a barbecue.
Safety measures (protective glasses, gloves and apron) are essential to this work. An expert is on hand at all times.
