Bake your own beaver

Welcome to the beaver factory! In this workshop you will get to know the Swiss craft of beaver baking and make the traditional pastry yourself. After a tasting of different types of beaver, a guided tour of the factory and an introduction to the history of the beaver model, you will go to work, equipped with various models (wooden moulds with a notched pattern), a dressing bag and a spatula.


This is how beaver cheeks work

The prepared dough is first rolled out and then carefully pressed onto the wooden model. The models have different subjects. You can also have a model made in the beaver factory with your company's logo or another motif (at least four weeks before the workshop). Now spread the filling evenly on the beaver dough, place the dough lid on the filling and pull the beaver off the model. After closing the edges, the delicacy is ready for the oven. Ten minutes later, the sweet smell of honey fills the oven. When the beavers have cooled down, you can take your creations home with you.


Division for larger groups

For larger groups, it is advisable to divide them up: while one group produces beavers, the other can, for example, sausage in the nearby butcher's shop. Then the groups alternate.


The beaver factory

The beaver factory was founded in 2010 to revive the old craft of beaver baking and to give new value to the beaver, this Swiss gingerbread speciality with almond filling. The manufacture not only uses fresh ingredients, but also carves wooden models with traditional and individual subjects.
