Baking on the farm
Let yourself be initiated into the subtle secrets of bread baking and make your own tasty bread and a fine plait. The baking course takes place on a farm in the Solothurn region. Together with the farmer's wife who leads the course, you will use flour from the farm's own grain. Depending on the season, you will already see this in the fields when you arrive. The farmer's wife bakes exclusively with her own flour, uses very little yeast and all the more patience and care.
Knowledge, tips and tricks
First, you will learn about the cereals wheat, spelt and rye and learn more about the different degrees of grinding and baking properties. Then it's soon time to knead the various doughs. Here, the advantages and disadvantages of a long dough with little yeast are discussed. Do you know why it makes sense to put a bowl of water in the oven when baking? With these and other tips and tricks, you can also take home the homemade bread and braid at the end.
You will give yourself and your group even more pleasure if you combine the baking course with another activity, such as a guided tour of the farm, a walk on the nearby adventure trail or a meal on the farm. Everything is possible, from brunch to a barbecue by the fire ring to a nourishing, sophisticated menu.
