Znüni and lessons like in old times

Before you go back to school, not as in your youth, but as in 1880, you can fortify yourself in an Emmental inn with a hot drink and a piece of fine Emmental pluck. Your teacher, of course also a genuine Emmental, will be waiting for you in the originally furnished classroom. The classroom is the Simon-Gfeller memorial room: Here the Emmental teacher and dialect writer Simon Gfeller (1868-1943) himself went to school. At old wooden desks you will practise writing with ink and pens and experience lessons like in the 19th century, but with more humour and less rigour.

Dinner in a cosy country inn

After the cheerful school hour you will be taken to a beautiful secluded inn. Here you can let the tranquillity of country life take effect on you and enjoy a fine meal in the cosy restaurant or on the terrace.

  As a starter you can have bread soup or a bouillon with garnish. As main course you will be served the Pinte-Brate (roast pork stuffed with dried plums). This is accompanied by a vegetable platter and bacon potatoes or French fries.
  
  
• Berner Platte
  As an entrée you can look forward to a hearty meat soup with bread. Afterwards you will be served the traditional Bernese platter with hammer, burewurst, green and smoked bacon, tongue, ripple and boiled meat, served with sauerkraut, beans and boiled potatoes.
