Create your own lucky charm from soapstone and semi-precious stones, which will accompany you as a necklace or keychain.

Approach to the soapstone

At the beginning of the soapstone workshop, the expert explains to you what soapstone actually is, what the differences are and how the stone is worked. You will learn that soapstone consists mainly of the mineral talc and was already a popular natural and work stone in ancient times due to its low hardness. With rasps, sandpaper and steel wool, you now set about working your soapstone. You will grind in a pattern and then polish the stone until it shines. Of course, the workshop leader will be there to help and advise you.

Your lucky charm comes into being

In addition to the tools you need to work the soapstone, you also have various prefabricated blanks at your disposal. You can choose between shapes such as rod, disc, heart and drop, between four and more colours (green, pink, brownish marbled, black/white) and two degrees of hardness. All participants are allowed to cut several stones and add their own patterns. This way, your very personal, unique lucky charm is created from the blank.

Requirements and individual wishes

The workshop can be carried out optimally outdoors, but also in closed rooms. Grinding produces low dust emissions, so the soapstone workshop is not suitable for dust allergy sufferers. Apart from a little manual skill, no previous knowledge is required. Children as young as five can work with soapstone. Do you have your own ideas for the workshop with your team?
