From the garden hose to the alphorn

Did you know that it doesn't take much more than a mundane garden hose to make a time-honored alphorn? In this workshop, you'll learn how to turn this handy garden tool into a traditional musical instrument. The hose is first bent into the right shape and then fitted with a mouthpiece. During the workshop, in addition to tips and tricks on alphorn building, you will also receive interesting background information on this instrument and how it is played.

The alphorn playing

The fully assembled garden hose alphorn can be played like a conventional alphorn. Learn from the alphorn blower how to elicit the first sounds from the instrument with the correct mouth position and breathing. Due to the special material, the tube sounds a little softer and less loud than the traditional alphorn, but it sounds!

Loosening up for your guests

The Garden Hose Alphorn Workshop is a fun and creative way to liven things up during a company party, seminar or other outdoor social event. Round off the workshop with an aperitif or meal.
